IQuum to Present Liat Analyzer at AACC 2004 Annual Meeting in Los Angeles

Allston, MA, July 15, 2004 -- IQuum, Inc. announced today that it will present its Liat™ Analyzer for the first time at the 2004 American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) Clinical Lab Expo. In addition, the Company will hold an industry workshop entitled "Molecular Diagnostics for Non-Specialized Users and Environments" to present more details on the Liat system for nucleic acid testing (NAT), and explain the advanced features of its proprietary lab-in-a-tube technology on which the Liat system is based.

This event will be the first public presentation of the Liat system, which consists of the Liat™ Analyzer and disposable Liat™ Tubes. The Liat Tube is designed to be similar in size to conventional test tubes and allows all assay manipulations to be conducted within the confines of the tube for a truly closed system. The Liat Analyzer is small, lightweight, and highly portable. In combination with the Liat Tube, the Liat Analyzer automates all NAT processes, including reagent preparation, target enrichment, inhibitor removal, nucleic acid extraction, amplification and real-time detection.

Based on IQuum's proprietary lab-in-a-tube technology, the Liat system refines the testing process to three simple steps: collecting a raw biological sample such as whole blood into a Liat Tube and capping the tube, scanning the tube's barcode, and inserting the tube into the Liat Analyzer. The analyzer automatically executes all the required assay steps and reports quantitative test results on the built-in touch screen within 1 hour. No further operator intervention or interpretation is required.

The Liat system fulfills a long industry need for easy-to-use, rapid, and sensitive automation for molecular diagnostics. It is the first step in realizing IQuum's vision of enabling the less experienced healthcare worker to perform more sophisticated biological sample testing in any setting with greater speed.

The AACC is an international scientific/medical society of clinical laboratory professionals, physicians, research scientists and other individuals involved with clinical chemistry and other clinical laboratory science-related disciplines. Its annual Clinical Lab Expo is the largest dedicated exhibition of equipment, instruments and services for clinical laboratories in the world. The 2004 Clinical Laboratory Expo will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California from July 27-29. IQuum will be located at booth 1235.

IQuum's industrial workshop will be held at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel, San Jose Ballroom, in Los Angeles at 7:00AM on July 28.
