IQuum to Show Liat™ Analyzer at the AMP 2004 Annual Meeting & Exhibit

Allston, MA, November 8, 2004 –- IQuum announced that it will present the Company’s first product, the Liat™ Analyzer, at the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) 2004 Annual Meeting at The Century Plaza Hotel & Spa, Los Angeles, California. The Exhibit accompanying the meeting is open on Friday, November 12, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm and Saturday, November 13, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. IQuum will be located at booth 1.

IQuum’s proprietary lab-in-a-tube technology (Liat) will enable the less experienced personnel to perform more sophisticated biological sample testing in a less expensive setting with greater speed. The Liat System is IQuum’s next generation platform for clinical diagnostics, therapeutic monitoring, biodefense, and agricultural and industrial biological sample testing.

The Liat System consists of Liat Analyzer and Liat Tube. The system is an easy-to-use, fully automated platform for nucleic acid testing (NAT). Each assay uses a Liat Tube, pre-packaged with all the reagents required for a test, eliminating reagent handling by the operator. Adding sample to Liat Tube, scanning barcodes, and inserting the tube into the Liat Analyzer are the only three manual operating steps. The Liat Analyzer performs the entire assay protocol, including sample preparation, target enrichment, inhibitor removal, nucleic acid extraction, amplification and real-time detection in a single closed-tube, and reports results within 30 minutes to one hour. Four independent optical detection channels allow for multiplex detection as well as internal control(s). The Liat Analyzer is portable with dimensions of 3.7 x 6.5 x 6 inches. Clinical trials with the Liat Analyzer are planned for 2005.

IQuum’s Liat technology is protected by US Patent 6,780,617, European Patent No. EP1,347,833 and other patents and patent applications, which IQuum holds.

About AMP

The Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) was founded in 1995 to provide structure and leadership to the then-emerging field of molecular diagnostics. Through its Council and Committees, AMP pursues topics of importance to those at the forefront of this growing discipline. From the beginning, AMP has worked to develop mechanisms for training and certification in diagnostic molecular pathology. AMP has assumed national visibility with its efforts to shape regulations and policy that influence research and the practice of molecular diagnostics. The organization is divided into the scientific subdivisions of genetics, infectious diseases, hematopathology, and solid tumors. Each subdivision addresses issues, identifies goals, shapes policy, and provides member benefits specific to that particular discipline. Members can participate in any or all of these subdivisions.

The AMP membership includes individuals from academia, government, and industry, including basic scientists, laboratory directors, medical technologists, and trainees. Through the efforts of an enthusiastic membership from across the United States and around the world, AMP continues to grow in numbers and influence.
