Liat Analyzer
Imagine ordinary healthcare workers or first responders conducting sensitive nucleic acid tests in a near-patient
setting or in the field by simply collecting a sample into a test tube, inserting the tube into a handheld analyzer,
and getting the test results within 30-60 minutes, without further human intervention. IQuum's Liat™ Analyzer makes
this vision a firm reality.

Liat System
The Liat system, consisting of the Liat Analyzer and disposable Liat Tubes, automates all nucleic acid
testing (NAT) processes, including reagent preparation, target enrichment, inhibitor removal, nucleic acid extraction,
amplification and real-time detection, in one portable device. In the Liat system, the testing process has been
refined to three simple steps: collecting a raw biological sample such as whole blood into a Liat Tube and capping the
tube, scanning the tube's barcode, and inserting the tube into the Liat Analyzer. The analyzer automatically executes
all the required assay steps and reports quantitative test results on the built-in touch screen within 1 hour.
No further operator intervention or interpretation is required.

Liat Tubes
For easy handling, the Liat Tube is designed to be similar in size to conventional test tubes.
It uses a flexible tube as the sample vessel and contains all assay reagents pre-packed in tube segments.
The all-inclusive Liat Tube allows all assay manipulations to be conducted within the confines of the tube
for a truly closed system. Barcodes attached to the tube frame are scanned by the analyzer to identify
the test menu and to select an appropriate program for conducting the test, as well as to track the sample
and the operator. After a test is completed, any biohazardous waste remains enclosed in the tube for safe disposal.

Liat Analyzer
The Liat Analyzer is small, lightweight, and highly portable. To automate complex testing processes, multiple sample
processing actuators in the Liat Analyzer compress the Liat Tube to manipulate the sample and control reaction conditions.
An internal optical system provides four independent optical detection channels for real-time monitoring and quantification,
allowing for internal controls and multiplex detection in each test. The Liat Analyzer is equipped with a variety of
connectivity ports, and can be battery or AC powered for maximum operational flexibility.

Liat Assays
The Liat system accommodates a variety of sample matrices, including whole blood, plasma, urine, and swab samples.
In addition, many established assays for sample preparation and nucleic acid amplification can be easily adapted to
the Liat system. For example, silica bead-based nucleic acid extraction, immunomagnetic sample enrichment, polymerase
chain reaction (PCR) and reverse transcriptase PCR (RT-PCR) have already been successfully integrated in the Liat system.
Using these assay components, full sample-to-answer biological sample testing assays, such as that for genotyping and the
detection of DNA/RNA viruses and bacteria, have been developed on the Liat system.

Liat System Applications
By simplifying nucleic acid testing, the Liat technology enables non-specialized personnel to conduct
sophisticated nucleic acid testing for clinical diagnostics, near-patient testing, bio-defense, research
and industrial testing. We have selected the two largest market segments: in vitro diagnostics and biodefense,
as the initial target markets for the development of our products. By leveraging acceptance of the products in
these markets, we will further extend applications to other market segments.
