Creating simple and elegant solutions

IQuum is developing the next generation of tools for biological sample testing based on its innovative lab-in-a-tube platform. The Company's systems and assays will provide easy-to-use, rapid, and sensitive automation for molecular diagnostics, and will be applied to all areas of biological sample testing, including clinical diagnostics, life-science research, industrial testing, and biodefense.

The Liat™ Analyzer refines molecular diagnostics to three simple steps: collecting a raw biological sample such as whole blood, plasma, or swab into a Liat Tube; scanning the tube’s barcode; and inserting the tube into the Liat Analyzer. The analyzer automatically executes all the required assay processes, including reagent preparation, nucleic acid purification, amplification and real-time detection, in 25 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the assay. The Liat system’s compact size, ease-of-use, full automation and rapid turnaround time will make it ideally suited for decentralized or near-patient nucleic acid testing.

Leveraging the Liat system, IQuum is focused on developing a pipeline of Liat assays for infectious disease and genetic testing. Liat assays utilize proven assay chemistries, such as silica bead-based nucleic acid extraction, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and real-time detection, to achieve the same quality of results as that obtained in laboratory nucleic acid tests, while providing the sample-to-result automation and ease-of-use to enable decentralize use. With a turnaround time of only 25 minutes to 1 hour, Liat assays are also among the fastest nucleic acid test developed to date. These assays will provide the next generation of capabilities for clinical diagnostics and therapeutic monitoring applications.
