We believe that, based on our unique proprietary technology and platform, IQuum's products will bring significant value to users in the market segments of diagnostics, biodefense, and industrial testing. We aim to enable the non-specialized personnel to perform more sophisticated biological sample testing. By accomplishing this, our solution offers tremendous value to all end users. These values include:

  • Enabling Better Decisions: 30-60 minute answers for better healthcare and emergency response without waiting for the laboratory
  • Ease-of-Use: "Insert-and-test" automation allows minimally trained personnel to perform sophisticated biological sample testing; suitable for near-patient use
  • Reduced Biohazardous Risk: Closed system is safe for operator and environment
  • Assay Versatility: compatible with existing assay technologies, which enables rapid menu expansion for infectious agents and genetic traits
  • Diverse Market Segments: ideal for large number of biological sample testing sites including hospitals, clinics, physician offices and emergency responders that need rapid test results

The following advantages of the lab-in-a-tube platform create this value proposition:

Minimize the sample volume while maintaining sample representivity. IQuum's lab-in-a-tube platform is capable of collecting adequate sample volumes to avoid false negative results. The platform best miniaturizes sample volume while maintaining a representative sample size. The sample tubes for the lab-in-a-tube platform are also easy to handle, providing an ergonomic user interface. The inherent flexibility in the platform makes lab-in-a-tube technology a potential interface for nanotechnology when it becomes cost effective. These features bridge the traditional and lab-on-a-chip platforms, enabling a gradual industrial transition to nanotechnology-based biological testing in the future.

Provide high sample quality and a safe interface. IQuum's lab-in-a-tube platform employs a closed system, which separates the sample from the environment. The platform not only maintains high sample quality in small volumes but also increases the safety of sample handling, thus allowing non-specialized personnel to conduct sample processing quickly, on location and in a highly cost-efficient manner.

Reduce the system costs while maintaining a competitive cost-per-test. By drastically reducing the amount of automation overhead required to process the raw samples, the lab-in-a-tube system reduces system cost as compared to traditional bench-top diagnostic systems and much more compared to floor models. In terms of cost-per-test, the lab-in-a-tube system can compete with traditional IVD automated systems because of its minimal reagent usage and low cost sample disposables. By enabling testing to be conducted on location, handling costs are further reduced or eliminated. This added value makes an automated testing system affordable to a large number of small hospitals and point-of-care sites. In addition, it provides tools for the biopharma industry to conduct complicated biological testing in drug development and clinical trials.

Require less training to perform more sophisticated testing with greater speed. IQuum's lab-in-a-tube platform automates sample preparation. An operator simply collects a sample into the integrated collection tube, inserts the sample tube into the Liat™ Analyzer, selects the test menu to be performed and obtains the testing results in 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the test. This allows even inexperienced personnel to perform sophisticated biological testing on location.

Miniaturize system size and maintain high assay flexibility. IQuum's lab-in-a-tube analyzers are miniaturized to accommodate different applications: suitcase size for clinical setting; handheld size for field-testing and point-of-care; and bench-top for high throughput drug discovery applications. More importantly, such analyzers are flexible, enabling the user to quickly conduct different assays on the same device. This capability creates an opportunity to replace several traditional single-assay bench-top systems in clinical labs. In addition, IQuum's analyzer has a high tolerance for variable room conditions by virtue of its closed system nature.
