Random access sample-to-result molecular testing of 8 samples in 20 minutes to 1 hour

Imagine a minimally-trained operator performing 128 high performance nucleic acid tests in an 8-hour shift. The Liat™ Workstation reduces molecular diagnostics to a level of simplicity that, for the first time, allows any hospital, physician’s office, or clinic to perform sophisticated nucleic acid testing in a fast, reliable and efficient manner.

The Liat™ Workstation is an automated sample-to-result molecular diagnostic system that enables minimally trained operators to perform up to 8 nucleic acid tests simultaneously in 20 minutes to 1 hour. The system integrates and automates the entire testing process, including sample preparation from raw biological samples, amplification, detection, and result interpretation.

Liat Workstaion
Fastest: sample to result in as little as 20 minutes
Easiest: insert-and-test operation without the need for adding reagents or other manual steps
Highest flexibility: perform multiple tests simultaneously on-demand with random access
Highest versatility: expandable from 1 to 8 modules to meet any throughput need

The Liat Workstation uses the disposable Liat™ Tube, which contains all required unit dose reagents pre-packed in tube segments. To run a nucleic acid test, an operator performs only 3 simple steps: (1) loading a raw biological specimen, such as whole blood, plasma, or swab sample, into the Liat Tube, (2) scanning the tube barcode to identify the test and sample, and (3) inserting the Liat Tube into one of the 8 modules of the Liat Workstation. No reagent preparation, addition, or other manual steps are required. Once the Liat tube is inserted, the system automatically performs sample preparation, nucleic acid extraction, target enrichment, inhibitor removal, and real-time PCR within the closed Liat Tube. Six targets and internal controls can be detected in each test by the built-in 6-channel photometer. A test can be completed in as little as 20 minutes. Results are automatically interpreted and displayed, and can be uploaded to a lab or hospital information system.

The Liat Workstation can be configured with 1 to 8 modules to scale with your throughput needs. Each of the 8 modules can be operated independently, so samples can be processed immediately. The system’s full automation, ease-of-use, and self-corrective error diagnostic features allow any healthcare worker to perform testing at any time. Because all reagents are contained within the Liat Tube and no sample or reagent needs to be removed from the tube, cross-contamination and biohazard risks are minimized and the need for specialized molecular labs is avoided.

The Liat Workstation has not received FDA clearance. Not for use in diagnostic procedure.
